As Father’s Day approaches, I couldn’t let the moment pass without honoring the man who’s been everything from my childhood crush, to my husband, teammate, and the father of our beautiful children.
I mean, we wouldn’t be mothers without their part in it, right?
We’ve been together for 10 years now, married for 5. But our story started long before that, when we were just kids. I still remember the butterflies, even back before then. Growing up together, building a life, raising a family… it’s been the kind of full-circle love story that only gets deeper with time.
He’s a real-life hero (even though he’ll never say it). He joined the fire department as soon as he was old enough — almost 20 years ago — and never looked back. His commitment to helping others grew from those first fire calls to now serving as part of our local rescue and ambulance service. He doesn’t seek recognition, but the quiet bravery of his everyday life is impossible to ignore.
At home, he’s still the hero. What stands out the most about him is the way he shows up at home. For his family. For the little ones who look up to him. For the woman who watched him grow from a young boy to the wonderful man he is now. Whether it’s staying patient through the toddler chaos, making them laugh until their bellies hurt, or stepping in during hard moments, he’s the kind of dad and partner who holds it all together without needing to be asked.
This is my thank you. Thank you for the long nights, the very early morning coffees you make me every single day, the quiet support, and the loud laughter. Thank you for being solid when I feel anxious, and silly when I need a reminder to loosen up. I don’t say it enough, but I see you. And I appreciate everything you do. He doesn’t need public praise to know how loved he is, but I’m sharing it anyway because a love like this, and a man like him deserves to be seen.
